Bost tells Eater he soon discovered that he and Resnick were philosophically aligned when it came to their approach to hospitality and fine dining, from the way they manage and mentor staff to the style of cuisine that they highlight. Jeune et Jolie honors nouvelle French food and Bost has considerable experience in French kitchens, including eight years with Guy Savoy; at Auburn, he combined that French background with vegetable and seafood-focused California cuisine.

Jeune et Jolie, an airy, modern French bistro bathed in blush tones, Champagne hues, and brass details, feels worlds away from its setting. Just as its name implies, this restaurant is young and pretty. What was the crowd like? Jeune draws stylish but not overly formal locals from its surrounds—the beachy enclaves of San Diego's North County, including Carlsbad and Encinitas—as well as hard-core foodies from the more urban nooks of southern San Diego. What should we be drinking? The cocktail list recalls French colonies—each one with different flavors from places like Haiti and Madagascar.
Multiple dates available. This is the best tasting menu experience in North County, without a doubt. I really do think that this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. The only drawback of a recent meal was that the vegetarian replacement for the meat course was, again, a faro dish that was only okay, not great. The fish replacement was a successful cauliflower preparation. Nevertheless, the other courses, including all the meat courses for the omnivores in our group, were excellent. The dessert was brilliant. Overall, certainly worth the price.
